How can i make a mold of my latest sculpture?

I made a very detailed and ornate unicorn for my neighbor for her birthday out of clay…but i like it so much i don’t want to part with it and I would like to make a mold of it. How do I do this?? I have wanted to learn how to make molds for a long time, but I’m just not sure where to start. Please help!

sorry, mold making can get complicated if you have a lot of detail to take care of. I would not recommend to start with something complicated. Start off with a simple shape. Either take a class or check out instructions found on the internet, e.g.

I would strongly recommend practicing on something you don’t care very much about. Like get some objects from a thrift store.

Given that you are probably under time pressure (like the birthday is probably soon) I would just regard it as practice. Give your birthday present and make another one for yourself. It will actually take you less time and much less frustration…..
